Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is pleased to announce the launch of a project aimed at enhancing road crossing facilities across key areas of the community. It originates in the community’s own place plan ‘Your Place Your Plan’ and has been incorporated into the approved 5-Year Strategic Business Plan (2023-2028), demonstrating the council’s commitment to community-led progress.
Dubbed PP ST3, this project focuses on collaborating with Powys County Council (PCC) Officers to assess and improve road crossing facilities, with specific attention to Canal Road, Milford Road, and B4568 Llanllwchaiarn Road. The project draws strength from the Place Plan evidence, as outlined in the Footpaths & Cycle Paths Audit Summary & Map.
Elected as joint lead councillors by the Strategy & Corporate Projects Committee (SCPC) on 1st July 2023, Cllr Jackie Molloy-Davis and Cllr Pete Lewington bring political lead to the project to work with the Town Clerk and other officersThe core vision of PP ST3 is to use community evidence, documented in the Place Plan, to advocate for substantial improvements to road crossing facilities in the specified areas of the community.
PP ST3 stands as a testament to Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Place Plan commitments, driven by extensive public consultation and evidence collection during the Place Plan’s creation. Aligned with the theme “Newtown: A great place to live, learn & work” and subtheme “A safe & tidy town,” PP ST3 embodies the community’s expressed needs, wants, and opinions.
