Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is pleased to share the latest developments in its ongoing effort to establish a Town Partnership. The project aims to fostering engagement, collaboration and involvement of public, private and voluntary sectors across the community.

At the meeting of the Strategy and Corporate Projects Committee 6th Sep’23, Town Clerk Ed Humphreys and Lead Councillor Pete Lewington provided an update on the project’s status and outlined the next crucial step in its evolution. To ensure the project’s continued success, the Town Council has recommissioned Chris Jones, an experienced place practitioner with a strong track record in similar initiatives. Chris Jones will spearhead the next phase, which involves setting up the Town Partnership.

The Town Council is committed to inclusivity and actively seeks input from public, private and voluntary sectors to ensure the partnership aligns with the diverse interests and needs of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn’s residents, businesses and volunteers.

Work is taking place on prototype terms of reference and a partnership model for discussion.  This prototype serves as an initial blueprint for the partnership and will undergo refinement based on input and feedback from stakeholders.  The Town Council values the contributions of all involved parties and is eager to create a partnership that serves the best interests of the community.

Following that, the aim is to hold the first partnership meeting in November.

The committee was also reminded that Newtown’s innovative approach to the Town Partnership project has captured the interest of the Welsh Government.  The project’s “can-do” spirit and innovative nature have garnered recognition, emphasising its potential as a model for community development.

Your Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council remains committed to providing updates on the Town Partnership project’s progress and milestones.
